Arling sat on his throne. His suit emanating power with a low hum that was audible throughout the entire throneroom. So much had changed recently. He had no idea how but his powerful kingdom had been raised from the depths of the sea. With all their technology they had not figured out a way to accomplish this themselves, and now, by some unknown means they were above the water.
He was having to think politically now, not just for threats from the inside, which were few and far between. No one was dumb enough to challenge him. Now though.......there were other countries around. Other powers, none able to rival his own, but still. The fact alone that it was not of his doing that Atlantis was raised, if that news ever got out, people might think he was weak. He feared no outside threat, but if Atlanteans started rebelling. He may have an actual problem on his hands.
He must find what actually caused the surfacing, and eradicate it. There must be no trace of evidence that would bring to light the lie he had told the people thus far.
"An experimental technology was being tested, and proved to be more succesful than we thought. The device was intended to allow weapons to float to the surface without being damaged by the forces that would act on it on its journey, the device was more powerful then originally thought, and ended up bringing the entire country to the surface."
Of course politics require lying all the time, but if he was caught in this one, it could be his undoing.
